Parent/Carers

At Play Therapy Base we work in partnership with our parent and carers recognising that the child will not experience effective change without their key adults being included in their therapeutic journey.

How you will be supported as a Parent/Carer?

Contact: We maintain contact with our parent and carers in the best way that suits their lifestyle. This is agreed when we start working with you and your child.  This could be by phone calls at specific times in the working day or text exchanges or diary catch up meetings.

While waiting for your child in our family waiting space at Play Therapy Base: We always have a member of senior or office staff around to make a coffee for our parents and carers.  They offer an ear to parent and carers if required. If our waiting space is busy, we will try to support a confidential conversation to happen in a confidential area at Play Therapy Base or offer a call at a different time.

Linking into other supports: We can support parents and carers to access other services or source information about resources in the local community. Our senior team will be able to listen to your needs and support you to link into agencies if this is required. Our website also has links to services and resources that may be relevant to your family’s needs.

Feedback from Parents and Carers about our service

  • Really helpful and supportive staff in a lovely child based environment. (Carer 2023)
  • Very personable so I felt supported as a parent. Lots of follow up sessions and there to use as a sounding board for techniques and learn new ones. Non judgemental and very safe (Parent 2023)
  • Play Therapy Base have been an absolute lifeline for us as a family. Not only have they looked after our child and helped her work through some tough things, but they have been there for us too as parents. When no other professionals were listening play therapy were there for us and we will forever be grateful for them as a family and being part of our little girl’s story. (Parents 2023)
